Consiste en un campo de proporción vexilológica aproximada 1:2 dividido en tres franjas horizontales de igual tamaño: azul, blanca y roja. El Escudo de Armas del Municipio al cantón completa el conjunto. El azul recuerda el límpido cielo Tinaquero, indicador de horizontes claros y firmes en los caminos de progreso y desarrollo integral de la comunidad. El blanco alude a la pureza espiritual del pueblo de Tinaco, la pulcritud de los Tinaqueros en el desempeño de su trabajo diario y la marcada honestidad que como honrosa virtud distingue a los hijos del Municipio así como los profundos sentimientos de paz que albergan en sus acciones y pensamientos. El rojo rememora la sangre vertida por los Tinaqueros en su empeño de mantener los sagrados principios de libertad, independencia, democracia y soberanía en la comunidad local nacional e internacional. Los tres colores en conjunto honran la imagen de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de la Chiquinquirá de Tinaco, sagrada patrona de la localidad.

Fue creada mediante Acuerdo Oficial el 3 de Marzo de 1993.

It consists in a divided field with approximated ratio1:2 divided in three horizontal stripes with equal size: blue, white and red. The Municipality Coat of Arms at the canton completes the design. The blue stripe remembers the limpid Tinaquerian sky, indicator of clear and firm horizons in the progress ways for the integral development of the community. The white one alludes to the spiritual purity of the people of Tinaco, the neatness of the Tinaquerians in the performance of its daily work and the remarkable honesty that as honorable virtue distinguishes the sons and daughters of the Municipality as well as the deep feelings of peace which they lodge in his actions and thoughts. The red stripe recalls the blood spilled by the Tinaquerians in its persistence to maintain the sacred principles of freedom, independence, democracy and sovereignty in national and international  communities. Altogether, these three colors honored the image of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Chiquinquirá of Tinaco, Sacred Matron of the locality.

It was created by means of Official Agreement the 3 of March of 1993.
